Cheryl Arkison's block for this week was fun.

FOURTH COLUMN DONE
First thing this morning was to make today's Sunrise block. It was a beautiful sunrise with lots of colors.
Then it was on to working on the blocks for the fourth row of the Playcation 2022 quilt. It's now over half way done!

FOUR WEEKS OF SUNRISES
I made the last of this week's Sunrise blocks and added them on to the rest. Pretty much four week's of clouds and rain - with the occassional break.
This is four week's done!

TWO COLUMNS DONE
I got the second column of 7 blocks done on the Playcation 2022 project today. That makes two, 5 more to go.

PLAYCATION 2022 BLOCKS
I got out the blocks from the Playcation 2022 with Cheryl Arkison. There are 50 blocks, so one of them will be on the back.
I put them up on the wall and arranged them. The biggest ones I trimmed to 13-1/2" squares. The rest will have to have something added to them to make them that size. There were two blocks that are bigger than 13" so I don't lose anything important to their image. A quilt that is 7 blocks by 7 blocks will measure 91" x 91". The blocks don't fit on my design wall, they spill down to the floor.
Now the challenge becomes sewing them together so they don't look like they are blocks. I need to disguise the grid.
I got the first column on the left sewn together. Sorry for the bad picture - you can't even see the left side column.

THIRD WEEK OF PLAYCATION2024
Here is this week's block for Cheryl Arkison's Playcation2024. I was a day late making mine. Then I messed up and made it the wrong size (quilt math) and had to add a strip on the bottom.

BACKING FOR COORDINATES
I've been working on the backing for the Coordinates quilt. I got the label inked and incorporated into it and finished up the last few seams.
I did a little squaring up. I never know if it ends up really square or not. It's the most difficult and frustrating thing for me, squaring up the backing.

COORDINATES IS A TOP
I finally sewed those last few seams to get the last of the Coordinates blocks made into a quilt top.
Pretty much every join was a partial seam.
It's done.
I'm still thinking about how to quilt it and whether the backing should be all black and whites, or greys. Or whether it should be wild and multi-colored.

WEEK TWO OF QP2024
I was soooo excited about the new Quilter's Playcation 2024 with Cheryl Arkison, I could hardly wait for Tuesday to roll around.
But, I was a little disappointed with this week's block. Cheryl demo-ed a block of strips. I didn't want to do that at the time. So, I went a little crazy and made a block with the braided curves, like I've been doing with my Sunrise blocks. I guess I have them on my mind.
Speaking of which, here are yesterday's and today's Sunrise blocks:

SO CLOSE
I'm almost done with filling in the background of my Coordinates blocks.
I had to finally use the Essex Linen that matches (somewhat) the background fabric I'm running out of.
It blends in pretty well, if you don't look too closely.

FILLING IN BACKGROUND
I got a little more work done on the Coordinates blocks, filling in the background. I'm definitely going to have to use a different fabric as I have very little of the fabric I've been using for the background.
And, I continue to make a block a day of the Sunrise. Here's this morning's. It was clear and beautiful, but very cold this morning.

WORKING ON COORDINATES
I'm working on Coordinates a little bit at a time. I sewed together a bunch of the little scrap pieces and am going to use them in the 'borders' that join the blocks together.
Today I cut into my precious piece of the 'background' fabric and made some of the 'border/sashing' parts and sewed them on, leaving partial seams. Everything is going to need partial seams!

PLAYCATION 2024 BEGINS
I'm excited to be able to watch Cheryl Arkison's new Playcation live this year. I watched the 2022 version after the fact and really enjoyed it.
This year's will be on Tuesdays, live on Instagram, as Cheryl shows us a new improv block weekly.
I'm using an African print and Kona solids to start.
Here is the first block, a Rainbow:

WORKSHOP WITH MARIA
I attended the zoom workshop called "Half Circles with Lines" with Maria Shell this morning. It was a fast and furious workshop with lots of information and advice. I used her method and cut my pieces without using a ruler.
I will be watching the replay in order to absorb all it. Fascinating!

TWO MORE BLOCKS
I hung out with the Brave Patch Finish It Friday group today. My laptop's camera decided not to work though. It was projecting all green. But, I was able to hear and see just fine.
I made two more Coordinates blocks. I think that will be enough.
Now I can start sewing them together into a top.

TOO BUSY?
I had put the blocks up on the wall, separated. Then today I set them side by side.
I think it looks to jumbled, too confusing. What do you think?
So, I put the 'black' background yardage up behind and separated the blocks a bit. I think it looks better this way. Don't you?
Needs a few more blocks, I think.
