SCRAP PLAY

 I did some cleaning and putting away of stuff in the studio this morning.  I even managed to cull some things out, which can go to the Goodwill. 

When it got to what to do with the scraps that are in my 'project bowls' (bowls where I keep the scraps of quilts I'm working on) I slowed down and got distracted.  

The bowl that contained the little scraps from the Trinkets quilt, which are from Alison Glass' Kaleidoscope Collection and are a little more loosely woven, I decided to just start sewing them together.  I contined sewing on them when Brave Patch Monday Sewcial started.  I sewed and fitted and sewed and fitted them all together, eventually, with only 6 little pieces left over.

It's about 13" by 11-3/4" - I think I'll make a little table mat out of it.  So cute.

WORKING ON COORDINATES

I'm working on Coordinates a little bit at a time.  I sewed together a bunch of the little scrap pieces and am going to use them in the 'borders' that join the blocks together. 

Today I cut into my precious piece of the 'background' fabric and made some of the  'border/sashing' parts and sewed them on, leaving partial seams.  Everything is going to need partial seams!

MONDAY CATCH UPS

 Seems I'm always trying to catch up with my BOMs and BOWs on Mondays.  So, today I got two of the Art East Quilting's Mini Sampler Blocks done.

Then, on Brave Patch Monday Sewcial we played another round of Coordinates.  This is my block for the week.  I incorporated a new fabric for the filler, Kaleidoscope Charcoal.  It's a lovely fabric, easy to work with and the color is excellent.

COORDINATES FABRICS

 I was looking in some project boxes and found my leftover Kaleidoscope fabrics from the Trinket quilt.  There's not much left, but while talking with the ladies yesterday, it was suggested that I use those fabrics for my Cooridinates project - an improv game we are playing on the Monday Sewcial.  I quickly went looking for some more of the black to use as 'filler'.  Apparently, those fabrics are not being reproduced.  But, I did find some on Alison Glass' website for sale.  She doesn't have any of the black, but she had 'Smoke' which is a mix of black and white threads to create a grey.  So, I ordered 3 yards of that, which should be here pretty quickly (although, she may be at Quilt Market, Quilt Fest right now).  But I have enough to last a few weeks.

So, this morning I set to work reproducing the last two blocks so I'll be all ready for Monday's game.

TRINKET

I finished up the panto on my City Sampler quilt, but I didn't have time to take it off the machine.

And while Eduard was working on that, I was working on my latest new project - Trinkets.  I had changed the blocks from 4 inch to 6 inch in Electric Quilt and printed out all of the foundation papers I would need.  This quilt will be bigger than the original pattern by Alison Glass.

I had gotten caught up and bought the quilt kit.  It came with about 29 fat quarters in all those delicious colors in the Kaleidoscope collection, plus the dark grey (Raven) for the background and a funky black and white striped knubbly fabric (which I don't like for a quilt).  When I saw that there was plenty enough fabric there for a bigger quilt, I immediately sent away for more of the Raven fabric which I would need more of, and a grey and white stripe to use instead of the knubbly one.  Here we go - just what I needed, another project.  But, I love it!
