IMPROV THAT FRIENDSHIP STAR

Today was Sherri Lynn Wood's Improv That Block Squad workshop on her BravePatch channel.  We were exploring the multitude of possibilities making a Friendship Star block.

Here is mine at the end of the day.  I put them up with my previous Block Squad work.  I think I'll be making more stars tomorrow to fill in some blanks.  And maybe even sew some of this together.  But, I'm not going to finish it until we've explored other blocks in the next few months.

SCRAP PLAY WORKSHOP

I attended Sherri Lynn Wood's annual First Saturday of the Year Improv  Scrap Play Workshop on Saturday.  We were making 9-patch blocks.  I made a few during the workshop, one with mostly dark valued patches and another with all light fabrics with one dark.  Then I wanted to make another on a larger scale, but didn't finish it.

The next day I worked on it for a bit again.  This is where I left it all until the next workshop.  The blocks are not sewn to each other yet.

IMPROV-ING THE ORANGE PEEL BLOCK

I joined the Improv That Block Squad and Sherri Lynn Wood this morning.  We worked on improv-ing the Orange Peel block.

Here's what I had done by the end of the day.

CHURN DASH WORKSHOP

I attended an online workshop with Sherri Lynn Wood (and a bunch of other people) today.  She talked to us about improving a Churn Dash block and finding pivot points (a term she made up) to change the block and make it what you want.  It was very fun.  I really like the way Sherri teaches and helps us to get centered before we start.

I made this Churn Dash block.  And then I made a few more.

FLOATING THOSE SQUARES

I think I've finally figured out how to do Sherri Lynn Wood's Floating Squares.  I'm using those Aqua squares I cut out the other day and some yellow Art Gallery fabric.

It's a lot of fun, too!

PILES OF SQUARES

I saw Sherri Lynn Wood's Instagram post about cutting scraps into squares and I got motivated.

I grabbed my Aqua Scrap Bucket and started cutting, no ruler.

I now have a pile of squares all different sizes.

QUILTCON FRIDAY

Today started with an early morning Tour of the Show with Mary Fons.  She talked about the Special Exhibit of Jacqui Gehring's quilts, she is the featured speaker this year.  And, we looked at the Maximalism quilts and a few others.  Mary is always very fun, enthusiastic and full of information.

Then, we all met up for a walk-thru with Sherri Lynn Wood and the BravePatch folks.  We made it a priority to find all of the members quilts.

Afterwards, I attended a lecture, "We Need to Talk About Bertha" with Mary Fons.

The Brave Patch crew met at a local restaurant for dinner.  There were 18 of us.  This time the restaurant wasn't so loud and we were able to visit and chat.
