MINNEAPOLIS

I got my rental car and headed to the Mississippi River National Recreation Area Visitors Center in St. Paul.  It was in a large building housed by a Science Museum, where I was greeted by a large dinosaur.

The Ranger suggested I go across the River to Harriet Park to sketch.  There were two different wedding parties in the park, shooting photos of the wedding party.

I found a nice place to sit and sketch this boat, which is a bed and breakfast apparently.

Then I headed to the state capital, but when I got there it was just closing.  I did get a photo though.

Down the street was the church I had seen while sketching.  I headed there to investigate.   It is the Saint Paul Cathedral.

Then I headed north to visit the St Croix National Scenic Riverway.  I got my passport stamped and explored around a but.  I spent the night nearby.

BOATS AT MARINA

I finished up the painting of the watercolor on my pencil sketch from yesterday.

ART DATE 7

I didn't go on my Art Date yesterday when it was scheduled, so I made up for that today.  I drove down to South Park and found an interesting scene at the Marina.  I love all of the masts and lines, but it does prove a challenge to draw!

I got this pencil drawing done, then headed back home to add some color.

I didn't get it finished.

FRIDAY FUN

This gorgeous Friday morning started out with a nice walk through Lincoln Park.  Jelly believes she's a much bigger, tougher dog than she appears to be.

For lunch, we ordered some food from Cafe Con Leche (Cuban), picked it up and took it down to the park at the end of Diagonal Avenue off East Marginal Way S.   We sat at a picnic table, near the shore of the Duwamish River and watched the boats and birds.  It was magical and the weather was perfect.

Back home I had to stop and admire the color on our Cone Flowers.
