CINCINNATI DONE!

The Cincinnati quilt is done!  Well, almost done.  It's quilted and off the longarm.  I still have to bind it and bury the threads where I started and stopped the quilting.

It was close.  I ran out of thread on the last row.  I've been using  a tan Aurifil 40wt thread on the front and the back.  I started with a full spool, which I thought would be enough.  But, I ran out on the last row.  Luckily, I had the same color in 50wt, so the last couple of blocks have that on the front.

ALL THE STUFF GONE

All the stuff gone!?  Maybe not all, but a lot.  I finally made the decision to get rid of the paisleys that I've been saving for twenty years and not using much.  I've also been going throught the rest of my fabrics, organizing and editing.

I ended up with 7 bags of fabrics to donate along with various other stuff.

I took all of that up to ReCreative in Seattle today.

I think I see some of the fabrics I donated a few months ago.

QUILTING, QUILTING

I need to quilt on this Cincinnati quilt every day.  Go, go, go...

I'm having fun and loving how it's turning out.  All ruler work...

A FEW ROWS DONE

I need to quilt about two rows a day to get the Cincinnati quilt done before the 15th.

I made a little progress today.

I got the batting and got the Cincinnati quilt top on the machine.

Here we go - only ten days to get it done.

FLOWER FOURTH

Today is May the Fourth and I forgot all about it!

May the Fourth Be With You!

I messed about in the garden planting poppy and marigold seeds.  I loosened the soil and added some soil amendment with chicken manure, then spread the seeds about.  This makes a perfect place for the cats to dig around and do their business, which will attract the dogs.  So, I'm trying to fence some of it off to prevent that.  Good luck little flowers.

I had some company while I worked.

The double-backed tape came today, but no batting - it's now saying it will be here tomorrow.  I got the centering tape on though.

BACK ON

I told my friend Sabine yesterday that I would load up my Cincinnati quilt onto the longarm and get started on it today.   And, I had every intention of doing that.  But first, I wanted to add the centering tape to the dead bar.  I got out the leftover doube-sided tape and put it on.  Unfortunately, it was too short.  So, I went to the computer and ordered another roll.  It will be here tomorrow.

I also wanted to put the zippers on the leaders, but reading the directions, I realized I needed some stronger thread - so that project was off, too.

I squared up the backing and pinned it onto the leaders, cleaned off the stray threads and rolled it up.  Then I discovered I don't have a batting large enough.  So, I went to the computer and ordered some larger battings - one of them will be here tomorrow.

So, there we are...

I had every intention.

MAY DAY FLOWER

I took a Paper Flowering Making Workshop through Frye Art Museum on Zoom this morning.  It was put on by Quynh Nyugen, the owner of  Pink and Posey, who teaches and has made paper flowers for businesses and other clients.  She sent the participants a package containing instructions and supplies for making a Peony flower during class.  There is enough to make another flower, too.

It was a wonderful class - something different!  Quynh is a great teacher and she really knows her stuff and is very passionate about it.  The class moved very fast and we barely got it looking like a flower before the class came to an end.  She is sending us videos of the class along with some videos on making some of the pre-made parts she had sent us.  I can't wait to get a little bit more into this.
