ROOMBA WITH INDIGESTION

When I came up the stairs to the studio this morning I heard talking.  Was there someone up there?  Did I leave the computer on with a video going?

No, it was the Roomba, complaining that it needed to be recharged.

When I leave the studio at the end of my day, I sometimes set the Roomba to vacuuming the room, as I did last night.

Unfortunately, some of the blocks on my design wall fell off and the Roomba sucked one up causing it to cease operating, unable to continue and call for help.

I flipped it over and there was the block, wound around one of the brushes.

I gently removed the brush and unwrapped the block.  I think it will be okay.  It's a bit dusty and wrinkled.  And that can be remedied.

NEXT DALEK BLOCK DONE

I finished the block I started yesterday.  That makes three completed blocks.

After, I started making tracing paper overlays to help with making sure things are the right size and in the right place.

MONDAY PURPLES

I finished the basket.  It turned out great.

Then I made this 10" block out of 100 one inch squares for a quilter online that asked for a bunch because she needed 3000 of them or something.  Then I find out after, that she has more than enough and doesn't want anymore.  I'll put it in my orphan block stack.

HERE'S AN IDEA

I decided to practice making curves.  And I'm going to do it using a little Charm Pack I've had around for a while.  It's a collection of rainbow colors in 2-1/2" squares.

I'm going to take one square at a time and make a block around it using fabrics from my scrap buckets that match, color-wise, the little square.

About half way through this first one I thought it would be cool to then cut it into a circle and then piece it into a square.  Another thing I could practice.

So, here is the first one.

DAY 9

Day 9 of the #30daysketchbookchallenge and today's prompt is "In the Bathroom".

My first thought was, yuck.  But, I thought the pedestal sink in the new downstairs bathroom is interesting looking.  So, I drew it.

It's so hard to paint white.  I seem to make the shading too dark.  This ended up looking more grey than white.  I even used a bit of white gouache to try to tame those greys, but alas...

I sketched it out in pencil first.

Then inked it, erased the pencil lines and added color.

Since today is Monday, I spent my afternoon with the BravePatch Monday Sewcial group.  And, it is week two of Art East Quilting's Mini Block Sampler  Here is the 6" block for this week, an Ohio Star.

ANOTHER GIFT

As a small project to do between bigger projects I made another block for the Gifts collection of blocks.

COMPLETED GIFTS

Today is Monday.  It is now my favorite day of the week, where it was once one that I dreaded when I had to go back to work.  Life is funny.

Before our Brave Patch meeting, which is now called The Seam Allowance, I put a tape measure on the dead bar of the new Bernina Q24, Erik the Bold, using double-backed tape.

It starts at zero in the middle and measures out in both directions.  It should be very handy.

During our get-together I finished the Gifts block I started yesterday.  There was a lot of pinning, sewing, then un-sewing because the intersections were misaligned, then more pinning and re-sewing.  Sometimes, that was repeated a third time.  All but one looks acceptable.  I should fix that last one, too.  But I'm tired of pinning and un-sewing.

It does look good though, doesn't it.
