FRIDAY DINNER

I love Indian food.  I stopped by a local Indian restaurant/grocery and picked up some ingredients and some premade dishes for dinner.

I made some 'bread' topped with tomatoes from our garden, jalepenos and cilantro.  It uses fermented rice and lentils as the base.

Mine didn't look quite like the picture but they were very tasty.

LAST OF THE TOMATO TARTS

I made what will probably be the last of the tomato tarts of the season.

So good.

TOMATOES

Darrell planted only tomato plants in our backyard garden this year.  He's in the process of trying to eliminate the purslane that has overtaken everything.

So, in the meantime, our vegetable garden is mostly dirt.

Here is one of the three tomato plants.  They are setting fruit, but everything is still green.

HARVESTING

It rained a little last night.  The rains are coming soon, I hope.

That means we had better harvest our Hidatsa bean crop today while they are dry.

So, we did.

I think we got more than last year.

Yum.

We still have lots of tomatoes coming on, too.

SUNDAY SEWING

After our regular grocery shopping in the morning...

then the dog walk in the park, where they left me behind...

I got busy on my project.  I'm thinking of calling it Helter Skelter.
 It's coming along.

I make these pieces first, then cut them to the proper shape...

I'm not sewing the parts together yet in case I need to change a color...

Mr. Bentley was sitting on the table, which is under the umbrella, where he is out of the rain...

PAINTING

I donated my 97th pint of blood this morning then came home and did my Monday morning cleaning (always fun - not).

After lunch, I went up to the studio and painted a bit, some for my homework - she wanted me to re-do this one by moving the teapot of flowers to the right, in order to make the 'triangle' more pronounced.

Original

Re-done with flowers moved to the right (it needs more work).

This little painting is of some of our garden tomatoes, painted in one of the Etchr sketchbooks I recently bought for a lot of money.  They are nice though.

After dinner, I painted the cool Mr. Bentley.  I traced him into the sketchbook from a photo and then painted with watercolors.  I mixed Cadmium Red with  a lot of Cerulean Blue and a touch of Hansa Yellow Medium to get this grey.

SUNDAY FUN

Wow, there was the biggest thunder storm ever here last night.  The rain came down in buckets.  And Jax was hysterical, but a little CBD oil calmed him right down.

The storm only lasted a few hours and in the morning all was calm and wet.  The torrents of rain that streamed down the driveway arranged the pine needles into some interesting patterns.

We picked the tomatoes that were ripe and made ten baggies of salsa, which we will freeze.  There was still a half a sink full of tomatoes left after we ran out of cilantro, jalepenos and garlic.  We'll take those to the food bank in the morning.  We have lots more tomatoes coming along.

After lunch, I spent a few happy hours sewing my Flower scraps onto adding machine tape.  It was quite fun and relaxing.  I still have a pile of scraps though.
