CHURN DASH IS A TOP

 I finally got the Churn Dash quilt top sewn together.

Afterwards, I cleaned up, put all the unused scraps back into their proper buckets and moved onto the next project.

CHURN DASH PROGRESS

 I've been working on the Churn Dash a little bit, sometimes a lot bit, almost everyday.

And I'm making progress, sewing the parts and pieces together as I go.

CHURN DASH SO FAR

 I've been enjoying working on the Churn Dash - making more blocks, moving them around, finding the best place for them.

This is how I'm leaving them for now.  Although, I might still move some.

I've made a few more Churn Dashes.  More to make.  Lots of scraps to use up.

This afternoon during Brave Patch's Monday Sewcial I sewed some more Churn Dash blocks.

 

CHURN DASH WORKSHOP

 I attended an online workshop with Sherri Lynn Wood (and a bunch of other people) today.  She talked to us about improving a Churn Dash block and finding pivot points (a term she made up) to change the block and make it what you want.  It was very fun.  I really like the way Sherri teaches and helps us to get centered before we start.

I made this Churn Dash block.  And then I made a few more.

HOMEWORK

 We had homework from Sarah Nishiura's Workshop - we were to take a simple block, change something about it and arrange it in different ways.

I started with a Churn Dash block.  I changed the two-patch to a four-patch.

I elongated the block and alternated it with it's mirror image:

I colored some of the squares in a rainbow circle.  I found it to be too confusing though.

I re-colored it with the colors being in a mirror image rotation.  This is better, but...

It was very time-consuming to make all of these drawings.  But I found it meditative and it gave me time to think about different options along the way.

I tried to do the same thing in Prequilt, but it wasn't possible.  I didn't see a way to make different sized rows.

Woke up to light drizzly rain this morning and it kept up all day.  So, no working on the deck.  

We went and did our weekly grocery shopping this morning first thing.  Then I went up stairs and finished sewing the binding on the green Verdant quilt.  It's done!

I did spend a little time working on my #100dayproject2020.  I made three more triangle blocks.

I went for a short visit with my Mom, took her some stuff.  That was the dogs only outing today.  When I put them back into the car after leaving Mom's they immediately got into a fight - just like little kids.

I finished sewing together the rows of the Churndash green quilt.

Then I got a few more squares done in my #100dayproject2020.

And I worked on the green quilt.  I finished the dark blocks and got them up on the wall.

Then I started on the light blocks.

I just barely squeaked these out.  I was busy doing other things, but I made myself work on the scrap bucket for a while anyway.

I took the Pi quilt off the wall after I had sewed all that I had up so far to make room for this green Churndash quilt with no name.

I have been making parts and pieces for this for a while now.

My original plan was to put all of the parts up on the wall and arrange the colors in a pleasing order.  But, that seemed like too much of a chore.  So, I took everything down and am going to make blocks and then arrange the blocks.
