MONDAY CLEANUP

First thing up in the studio, I started cleaning up.  I've finished working on the scrappy Checkerboards but the two scrap buckets were a mess.  They were all mixed together.

During the Brave Patch Monday Sewcial I started sorting them back into their buckets.  I didn't think I'd made a dent on them, but I was surprised that they fit much better now - not overflowing anymore.  So, I guess it worked!

I also put all of the fabrics, mostly greys, away that I had used on the Sunrise quilt.  So the studio is looking a lot better and the cutting table is cleared off.

CLEAN WINDOWS

We cleaned the outside of the studio windows today.  Darrell got out the ladder and the long broom that the hose attaches to, and I took the screens off.  He washed the outside of the windows and got pretty wet in the process.  I scrubbed the screens.  My goodness, they were dirty.

After we got everything put back together I realized the insides were filthy, too.  So, Windex out, I cleaned them.  No more dog nose prints smearing the inside of the lower window.

And, I can see out again!

5/100

Day five of #100dayproject2020 sewing scraps from my bucket onto 5-1/2" foundation squares and cutting any larger pieces up first into 5", 3-1/2", 2-1/2" squares.  Today I found a small stack of 4-1/2" squares, so I left them as-is.  Now I have another stack.  This could be endless.

When I cut and trim, I just brush the trimmings onto the floor.  Always have.  I noticed my chair wasn't rolling right, so I flipped it over and pulled all of the flotsam.  OMG.  It rolls better now though.

NEW SEWING SETUP

I finally got fed up with the way my new Bernina didn't fit right in my old sewing table.
I bought new tables that I can raise and lower, so I can stand and sew if I want.

The studio has been torn apart for the last week.  There was lots of assembling happening.  There is lots of cardboard and packing materials to dispose of.

The saddest part is getting rid of my old sewing table that my Uncle Don made for me in 1993.  It has been a faithful and very useful friend over the years.  I feel sad, but I don't have room to keep it.  I've had it on Craigslist with no bites, so far.

I'm loving this new setup.

Darrell made the table top for the cutting table, it spans the length of the backside.  It also rises up - which will be much more convenient for cutting.  He also put some peg board on the wall.  Now I'll be able to hang all of my rulers and cutters.  Hopefully, this will keep things more organized and easily accessible.

GETTING READY

Busy, busy, busy.....Darrell and I are both getting ready for our Open House coming up in a few days.

My studio hasn't had a good cleaning in a long time.

Add to that, a recent bug infestation in the beam at the top of the building.  We bombed last week and now there are dead bugs everywhere along with the general debris created when he dug them out.  I had put white paper over everything I didn't want the bug poison on - like my fabrics and table tops.

Here are the before pictures:

south end before

north end before, see the bug stuff on the floor - yuck.

I ran out of steam after lunch so I only got the north half somewhat cleaned:

north end after

south end after - didn't get to it yet.

And then the next day (Wednesday):

Definitely looking better...

north end

south end - yes!

Thursday I have to paint the ceiling where we tore some of the sheetrock down, and then I'm going to start bringing out some artwork.
