SEWN TOGETHER

Making 8 at a time Half Square Triangles, I sewed all of the pairs together today.  It took about 2-1/2 hours.  My neck was sore, but I got them all done.

NEW PROJECT

I've started on a new project - a Tula Pink quilt called Opening Night using her new line of fabrics, Line Work.  It's a lot of black and whites and some additions to her True Colors blending fabrics.

I cut out all of the colored fabric being used to make a bunch of little, 4", stars.

Then I cut out the background pieces.

And sewed them all together in the '8 at a time' method of making HST squares.

Now each one needs to be cut apart and the seam pressed open.

I got one set done - that's enough for today.

TRIMMING HSTS

Sew, cut apart, press seam open, trim.  Repeat 480 times.

That's how it goes for the expanded blocks made form a Quilt Freedom Workshop.

Oh, my aching neck and arm.

upper right is the picture of the original blocks I'm trying to replicate, but in different colors, of course.

I managed to get a lot of the trimming done while participating in zoom meetings.  Today was a Brave Patch meeting from 1pm to 3pm.

MISTAKE?

Today I was contemplating whether it was a mistake to change to one white for the Pi Quilt.  I was able to order more of the 'daisy' white and black fabric and it's on its way.  But, I didn't think about whether I'd have enough of the black fabric to remake the first four rows.

I think it might be close.  If I run short, I could always cannibalize some of the first four rows (which I was planning on making into another small Pi).

I've gotten alot of the pieces of the white cut out.  I sewed together some of the 8aat (eight at a time) squares for the many, many half-square-triangle squares that I will need.

Today I cut and trimmed some of those.  I like the idea of doing just one row at a time, this is just too much - the brain starts to check out.

Stix has set up a cot in my studio - he's working in Darrell's shop for several days this week.  Jax found it very nice.

STARTING A PI

I've been drawing up a few versions of a Pi Quilt.  I drew them also in Electric Quilt 8.

I decided to make a small version first to see if it works and I like it.

I counted up how many pieces I need and cut them out. I'm doing the half square triangle squares using the 8 at a time method - 8aaT.  And cut out the rest of the 'background' pieces.

Here we go...
