YEAR OF COLOR

There's a website, yearofcolour.com that examines your year of Instagram posts and makes a mosaic of the colors from your photos.

Here's mine:

GOOD BYE 2019

HELLO 2020

BEGONIA BACKING

I've been down with a cold since Saturday, not doing much, just hanging around binge watching Netflix.  I've had no energy to do much of anything else.

But, today I was just bored silly, so I went up to the studio and finally finished the backing for the Begonia quilt.

I used the scrappy strips I had made earlier and set them with Kona Lilac.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH

We went to the International District and had lunch at Shanghai Gardens restaurant.  We bought way too much food so we'd have enough to take home for dinner later.  Yum.

I love the Chicken with Ginger and Garlic.

We were going to go to a movie afterwards, but changed our minds when we got to the theatre and saw how crowded it was - the only seats left were in the front two rows.  Instead we came home and watched a movie on tv.

CHRISTMAS EVE MORNING

We had a nice walk in Lincoln Park this morning.

We've had lots of rain lately - 3.25 inches just the other day.  A few trees came down in the park, one of them right across the path from the pool up to the ridge.  There were guys out clearing that up right away.

DINNER

Today we had his family, Zach, Sara, grandkids and one great granddaughter over for Christmas dinner.
I made turkey loaf, potatoes au gratin and a green bean casserole.  We used the green beans and potatoes from the garden.  Everything turned out great.

It was a blustery morning for our walk today on Friday the Thirteenth.

UPHILL WALKS

I've changed my route in  Lincoln Park to include walking up the trail from the beach by the pool to the ridge trail.  I'm trying to increase my leg strength.  It gets a little easier each time.  Darrell has been doing hills for a while now.  He's been walking up the Thistle stairs then going down to the beach and going up the zigzag trail at the north end of the park.

So, when we walk together our paths diverge - I go up the middle trail...

Then the dogs and I walk to the north end and wait for him to come up the zigzag trail...

DONE AND DONE

I started and finished the quilting on my Japanese quilt, Unexpected Visitor.  Or should I say, Eduard did.  And, while he was busy quilting, I was busy working on our Holiday cards.  Darrell had taken a picture of us and the dogs at the park the other day, so we used that photo as a holiday card.  I had to run up to Capitol Hill to pick up the cards.  It was either that or wait two weeks for them.   When I got to Walgreens, they said the cards were ready, but they hadn't been cut yet and their cutting machine was broken.  I don't know what they were planning, but I told them I'd take them as is.  I figured I could cut them with my rotary cutter - which I could.

So, I was cutting the cards apart while Eduard quilted.

After Eduard gave me fits by losing his mind and losing his place in the world, I had to shut him down and start over - a couple of times.  But it's done.

DOG COAT

Jelly had outgrown her little jacket.  So, I used her old one as a pattern and made one a little bigger.
I got some fleece and trimmings at Pacific Fabrics on Friday when it was all on sale.

It went together very well.

Jelly hates having her picture taken.

BLACK FRIDAY

Yesterday I started sewing the scraps from Unexpected Visitor onto a 6-1/2" strip of lightweight cotton fabric that I originally used as backing for drapes I made a long time ago. That was great fun.

Then I went down to the Sodo Pacific Fabrics where everything was 30% off after 2pm.  Woohoo!  I bought enough fabric to finish the back and I splurged on some Kai scissors, thread and a few other things.

Today I cut another strip and cut it in half and  made two more shorter strips with the scraps.  I used up almost all of them.

I added a label and then finished up the back.
