WHAT A DIFFERENCE

What a difference a day makes.  Or should I say a good night's sleep.  Yesterday I was wasted all day because of lack of sleep and didn't get much done.  I got a great night's sleep last night and was a ball of fire today.  I took the dogs on a little bit longer walk this morning, then did some shopping.  When we got home I did an extra good job of cleaning, even cleaning the laundry room.  Yea!

Then we went up to the studio and I finished off the Pub Path's quilting, including turning it so I could do the side borders with the computer.  That was the first time I've tried this.  I was surprised that the borders weren't square with the table.  That was a little bit annoying, but I was able to figure it out and get the border into the tilted border box.  And it turned out great.

It was a beautiful last day of August!

Puppaccinos for everyone!

This is the digital design of bubbles for the borders.

All done - well, mostly.
Just in time to go make dinner.

BLOCKS FOR THE WEEK

I got a little behind on the blocks for this week.  I got them caught up today.  I didn't feel like doing much of anything.  I did not get enough sleep, having been woken up too early by someone making noises in the kitchen.  I hate when that happens.

Here are this week's Moda Block Heads 2 and Splendid Sampler 2 blocks.

And then I worked on the next Alphabet Letter:

CITY SAMPLER BLOCKS DONE

Hallelujuah, hallelujuah!!  I finished with making the City Sampler Blocks today!  And I did it while listening to a podcast, "Just Wanna Quilt" hosted by Dr. Elizabeth Townsend Gard, who was interviewing Tula Pink and Mary Fons.  It was very interesting.  I finished up about the same time the podcast did.

Check that one off the To-Do List.

I'm still posting them to Instagram [@terrypeart] everyday.  We are on number 54 today.  So, I can't do anything with them until the contest is over, but...

I can't wait to get them all up on the wall and decide on the background fabric.  White or grey?

GETTING CLOSE TO END

I worked on machine quilting Pub Path, getting the top border on and rolling on.  My lower back was aching so I spent the afternoon working on my few remaining City Sampler blocks.

QUILTING PATH

I finished the back for Mortar and Putty with some difficulties.  I can't seem to wrap my brain around the problem and it seems to me that I never used to have difficulty with problems like this.  My brain is slowing down.   Anyway, I gave up and let it be not right.  I don't care.

I put the label in the screwed up junction.

I made a label for the Drunkard's Path, too.

Then I loaded it onto the machine and started quilting it.  I used the channel-locks to baste it on square, but I also used them while I stitched-in-the-ditch around the small red border.  It worked great!  Love my A-1.

I'm free-motioning the inside.  I'm going to use a computer design for the borders.

MAKING BACKS

I took the dogs on an extra long walk this morning so I could justify spending the rest of the day sewing.

First up was another Alphabet letter.

After lunch, I was bored, I guess.  I pulled out a very very old project and made a back for it.

This is a Drunkard's Path variation made from Rose & Hubble fabrics with a beer motif.  The top was ready to go, all I had to do was put the back together.

After I finished that, I thought I should probably make a back for the Mortar and Putty quilt top I recently finished.

I came up with the crazy idea to make the back with the crosses like the front blocks have.

I made the back and then sliced into it.  I wondered how to do that, since it's bigger than my cutting table.  Then I realized I could draw a line on it while it was hanging on the wall using the tape measure as a straight edge.  I drew a pencil line across it, then took it to the cutting table and cut it.

I'll do the other two tomorrow.

ALPHABET AGAIN

After a walk in the dog park and some major yard work, I went up to the studio - where it was cold and I had to close the windows!

I finished two more Alphabet blocks.

I'm not too sure about this bright orange, but when I picked the fabric I thought it was the best choice.

TANGENT

Well, I'm off on another tangent.  I've started a new (sort of) project.

I bought these three alphabet panels a while back and cut out the individual letter blocks on two of the panels.  I sorta lost track of them and started looking around.  I found the pattern first.  Then it took a while before I found the fabric.  So, I got them project a box to keep it all together.

Since I had them all out,  I finished cutting out the blocks from the last panel then went ahead and made a few blocks.

Three panels will make three quilts.  All the same.

BH2 BLOCK 12

Here's block 12 of the Moda Block Heads 2, another 6" block :

I spent the rest of my time straightening and organizing and throwing out.  I finished off the wrapping  onto boards of my new batch of Kona solids. I found a lost project and found it a storage container.

I can see my cutting table again.

SMOKEY DAY

It is so smokey because of wind blowing into Seattle coming  from all the wildfires around the region that there's an 'unhealthy air quality' warning and we are all advised to stay inside.  So I did.

I didn't go for my morning walk and went up to the studio to work on the City Sampler blocks.

I was quite productive.  Hailey worked on drawing horses again.
