Seattle Modern Quilt Guild's block of the month for 2019 is called the Begonia quilt. It's going to be mostly half-square-triangle squares.
First month's assignment is to pick fabrics and make the center.
I'm using the fabric I got at the recent Love of Stitching meeting the CQA guild arranged that got the CQA the SeaMQG and the Seattle SAQA together for an afternoon. It was fun. We traded fabrics at the end.
This yard of fabric is definitely not something I would have bought on my own. But it's going to be a great jumping off point for this project.

Wow, right? |

Here's my ten fabrics and my Swatch Panel to keep them straight. |
And then here's the first month's assignment, the center square and a few small square-in-a-square blocks to be saved for later.
The fabric used for that bigger center square was directional, so I cut it into four triangles and sewed them together in such a way as to make them more uni-directional (is that a word?), more bud-like (as in, the center of the flower).

The main fabric for this project, the dark purple, is a Kona called Regal. I love it. |
