Done with a palette knife. I think this is the first painting I've ever done with just a palette knife. Hmmm, not sure I liked it - it's not easy. I overworked it and ruined some good stuff, unfortunately.

A ROW IS DONE
I got the blocks made for the first row of the Pi Quilt.
Then I made the half square triangle squares for the next row.

PI COLORS
I started working on my bigger version of the Pi Quilt. I'm cutting out pieces of the colors and putting them up on the wall. I want to get the colors sorted out before I start making the blocks.
Of course, I made the 3.14 first. Here we go. It will be 18 rows down. I've got a ways to go, and of course, all of the rows won't fit on my work wall.

ROAD 2 CA WINNER
I was pleasantly surprised today to find out my quilt, Carolinas, was awarded "Best Use of Color" in the Road to California Quilt Show and Conference 2020. It's held in Ontario California, so we didn't attend. My friend, Kim, who was working at the A-1 booth, sent me these pictures.

FRIDAY ACRYLICS
In our Acrylics Class at Daniel Smith today we were doing Pointillism.
It's a little frustrating to me. I'd rather just paint.

OLDIE REDO
I wanted to try some of the techniques I learned in last Friday's class on my old painting of the motorcycle on Roxbury. It's been sitting around undone for (I think) years.
I'm still not happy with it, and I'm not calling it done. But it is a little better than when I started.

THE BACK FOR THE BABY PI
I made the back for the Baby Pi Quilt today. I used the leftover scraps - almost all of them.
Still needs to have a label inked on.

FRIDAY ACRYLIC
I've started up another 5 week acrylics class at Daniel Smith.
This week was about "Impressionism" and broken color.

LITTLE PI TOP
Here are ten of the ten rows done, but not all sewn together. Once I got all of the nine-patches done I had to make the zero blocks remade.
Hopefully, I'll get the rest of the rows sewn together tomorrow.
It still needs a good name.

MORE PI
I got more of the rows done on my little Pi quilt. When I went to add a zero block I realized I had cut them all too small. I'm going to make them later. I don't want to disrupt my rhythm.
Here are six of the ten rows, almost done.

WORKING ON IT
I started making the blocks for my little Pi quilt. It's going together very well. Here are four of the ten rows.

OFF TO PT
Darrell and I caught an early ferry to Bainbridge, had breakfast at Starbucks then drove up to Port Townsend. We got to Edensaw just as it opened. I didn't bring the dogs - I'm not going for a walk because I'm still sick with sinus issues (I'm not saying infection).
While he was picking through the piles I was sketching.
There were two cats in the showroom and only one cat bed.
One of them was not happy. |
He tried to get inside my bag - but alas, it was too small. |

STARTING A PI
I've been drawing up a few versions of a Pi Quilt. I drew them also in Electric Quilt 8.
I decided to make a small version first to see if it works and I like it.
I counted up how many pieces I need and cut them out. I'm doing the half square triangle squares using the 8 at a time method - 8aaT. And cut out the rest of the 'background' pieces.
Here we go...
