EXTRA DYE

I still have the extra dye leftover from the tie-dyed backing I made.

I should have disposed of it all weeks ago, but it was still sitting there, along with a bucket of alum water.  I've heard that the alum will only last a few days, but I found this to be not true.

So, I put my ugly pink night gown into it on Friday. I just dumped all of the extra dyes into the alum bucket with it.   It remained in there all day Saturday, while I was at class.  I took it out and rinsed and rinsed and rinsed it out, then put it into the washer for a couple of cycles.

I like it.

DOGBIKER

I finally used the embroidery module on my new Bernina 770.

I had to make the lines of the lino print of my Dogbiker more solid in Photoshop.  That took hours.

Then I imported it into my free for a month copy of Bernina's Embroidery software and turned it into an embroidery file that my machine could read and interpret.

After a few missteps, I got it done.

DESIGN CLASS

I think I mentioned that I'm taking a design class with Joen Wolfrom?  It's at Quilted Strait, a quilt shop in Port Gamble, a very interesting little town.

I take the ferry from  Seattle to Bainbridge and drive 19 miles up to Port Gamble.  The class is from 10am to 4:30pm.  That's why I made the two lunch bags.  After class I rush like a maniac back to the ferry to try to get on the 5:30pm boat.

Today was an interesting weather day.  There was rain, hail and beautiful, warm sun.

But, it's always a nice day for a boat ride.

LUNCH BAGS

Since I'm going to that Design Class in Port Gamble and it lasts all day, I take my lunch and dinner with me.  I needed to insulated lunch bags.  So I made them.

The red one was made from some old fabric I had around.  I picked it because I had that deep red nylon webbing and it matched really well.

The blue is a new Tula Pink fabric that I just love.  I lined it with a lime green shot cotton (Kaffe).

I picked up some insulating batting and some iron-on vinyl at Pacific Fabrics.  I lined them both with the vinylized fabrics.  I had to order some blue webbing from Amazon and I'm waiting for it to arrive.  Otherwise, they are done.

FINISHED TRINKETS

Finally!  I've been quilting on the Trinkets Six quilt.  Eduard put in almost 11 hours quilting.  I think that's the longest I've ever spent on any quilt.

This one was great for practice.  Every trinket square was quilted differently, giving me an opportunity to try out lots of different fills and motifs.

MEOW WOLF

Everyone was telling us we needed to go see Meow Wolf.  They couldn't quite describe it, but said we had to go see it.

I would say Meow Wolf is an interactive art installation (in an abandoned bowling alley).  Other than that, you'll have to go see it for yourself.

We enjoyed it.

SANTA FE PLAZA

We took a room at the Downtown Hilton Plaza Hotel and in the morning walked down to explore.

Darrell was really excited to see the 'miraculous' staircase at Chapel Loretto.  It was beautiful.

Next, was the much bigger St Francis Cathedral.

Then we walked around the downtown, going into art galleries and souvenir shops.
