I saw a list online for sketching one everyday.

Here we go:

IT WAS ENOUGH!

Yes, there was enough binding, in fact, there was about 2-1/2 feet left!

It's on and ironed over and ready to be sewn down on the back.

QUILTING DONE, BINDING MADE

I'm still not sure if I'll have enough of this black and purple fabric that I'm using for the binding, but it's been cut out and ready to go.  If there isn't enough, I don't know what I'll do.  There is not enough of any of the other fabrics, this was the biggest piece of the leftovers.

If you want to see more about how I make bias binding, go here.

DRAGONFRUIT SKETCH

We went to Seattle's International District for lunch today with his granddaughter Hailey.  Afterwards, we meandered around looking in the windows and checking out some of the shops.  We ended up in Uwajimaya perusing the seafood and the produce.  I spotted this Dragonfruit, the sign said it was very healthy, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.  It was $9.99 per pound and heavy.  We bought it anyway.  It ended up costing $12.79.  It better be good.

JACQUI #31

I don't know why, but I only made one of the pattern.  Hence, only one block.

PIECED BACK

She brought me a panel that matches the main fabric used on the quilt top to use for the back.

It was going the wrong direction and it wasn't big enough, so I had to cut it apart, add some stuff and sew it back together.

I made a label and pieced it in, too.

Took me most of today.  (After I took the dogs for their walk of course).

SETTING DECIDED

Wow, I've gone round and round about how to set the blocks.  I used Electric Quilt to try out several options, but then just resorted to putting them up on the wall.

I settled on this:

I had to make a few more blocks and the cornerstones of the black and white.

MARJORIE BLOCKS

Marjorie blocks, one with an alternate border.

I finally made a pile of the small kite shapes for the alternate border.  So, I should do a few more of them.

HERE WE GO!

Over the weekend I got all of the smaller half-square-triangle squares sewn together and ironed.

I took them to work with me and got them all trimmed down.

Aren't the colors just beautiful!

BLACK TRIANGLE SQUARES

I sewed up the colored triangles with the black triangles.

I counted 113 as I was ironing them...

I think I need 116.  Drat.

CUTTING TRIANGLES

I cut out almost all of the small triangles, just have the whites left to do.

My method is to cut half square triangles out oversized then trim them down after they are joined together - I find I get more accurate results that way.

I trimmed up half of the larger triangles that I made the other day.  Then it got too hot in the studio.

ANOTHER DOG?

We (me) thought getting a dog for Jelly would help her to relax when we need to leave her alone.

So, I contacted CA Russell Rescue again, and found a dog that looked a lot like Jelly and made arrangements to adopt him.

They are calling him Spirit (another name I don't like).

Spirit

Spirit at his foster home.

He is coming up from the LA area, this time it's one person who is making the drive all the way by herself.

Here he is on his first leg to go meet up with the van whose bringing all the dogs north.

Spirit on his first leg of the trip north.

Post Script:  After looking through his paperwork, I see at one point they were calling him Jax.  He answers to that, so his name is now Jax.

Looks like he was turned in as a stray in a town north of Sacramento.  He wasn't neutered when they got him, so that happened right away.  He is approximately 6 years old and semi-housebroken.

Welcome home, Jax!

BIG SQUARES CUT AND PIECED

Here is the main center square, consisting of two half-square triangles, cut and sewn together.

Back to chain piecing - haven't done this in a while.

35 squares is all I need
