CHOICES CHOICES CHOICES

I've been working in Procreate to try different backgrounds for the African Fabric Samples quilt.

TOO BUSY?

I had put the blocks up on the wall, separated.  Then today I set them side by side.

I think it looks to jumbled, too confusing.  What do you think?

So, I put the 'black' background yardage up behind and separated the blocks a bit.  I think it looks better this way. Don't you?

Needs a few more blocks, I think.

OLD PROJECT

I pulled out an old project that I haven't worked on in quite a while.

I put the parts I had already done up on the wall and sorted through the instructions in order to bring myself up to speed.

I have all of the blocks done.  It just needs a background.

I choose a medium grey, Kona Shitake.  I don't have enough to do all of the background, but I cut up what I have.  I'll have to order more and hope it matches.

Here's where I ended the day.

THE BACKGROUND OF THE BIG FLOWER

I pulled out a pile of low-volume fabrics for the background of the big flower of Amity Prime.  They are mostly old tone-on-tone whites and creams, leftover from the 1990's.  I had put them into a 'going away' box to be removed from my stash.

I'm making pieced squares of odd sizes for now.  I'm having a hard time not putting more variety into them.  I want to keep them plain and simple with the occasional spot of color, but my 'instinct' is to add more.   It goes against my grain to make them plain.
