WINNOWING THE SCRAPS

 My scrap buckets, but only 10 out of the 12, are overflowing.  So, I decided yesterday to do something about that.  I sorted them into pieces that are strips, pieces that are small and can be cut into 2-1/2" squares, 3-1/2" squares and 5" squares.  The strips will be sorted by width and joined together, someday.  Today I finished them up.  

Yesterday, after sorting most of it.  It still needs to be pressed and cut to size.

This bucket is now under control.  Success!

SORTING THE BLUES

 I sorted the scraps that remain in the Blue scrap bucket.  There were a lot of small bits.  So, I sewed some together and ended up with two Log Cabin type blocks.

There's still lots of littles left.

WORKING ON BLUE SLABS AGAIN

 In a glaring act of procrastination, I got out the Blue scrap bucket and started making more blue Slabs.  It was great fun for a while - until I started sewing the them together.  They are pretty much all partial seams.

MONDAY CLEANUP

 First thing up in the studio, I started cleaning up.  I've finished working on the scrappy Checkerboards but the two scrap buckets were a mess.  They were all mixed together. 

During the Brave Patch Monday Sewcial I started sorting them back into their buckets.  I didn't think I'd made a dent on them, but I was surprised that they fit much better now - not overflowing anymore.  So, I guess it worked!

I also put all of the fabrics, mostly greys, away that I had used on the Sunrise quilt.  So the studio is looking a lot better and the cutting table is cleared off.
