MIGHT BE INTERESTING

I chanced washing the little fabric squares of the found African fabrics.  I added a Color Catcher and caught a little red which I thought might happen.  But, there was little to no ravelling of the edges.

I pressed the wrinkles out and put them up on the wall.

It looks better than I thought it would!  Now I'm thinking about what color to use as the filler.  Maybe different colors for each area?

FLOATING THOSE SQUARES

I think I've finally figured out how to do Sherri Lynn Wood's Floating Squares.  I'm using those Aqua squares I cut out the other day and some yellow Art Gallery fabric.

It's a lot of fun, too!

ANOTHER FLOATING SQUARES

I took another Floating Squares Workshop with Sherri Lynn Wood today.  One of the deciding factors to re-take this class was the fact that she had Mary Margaret Pettway from Gee's Bend as a speaker.  It was very interesting to see and hear her talk about her quilts.  That was worth the price of admission.

So, after she spoke, Sherri Lynn had us start on our projects.

Here is mine, so far.  It needs a lot more work.

I wasn't happy with how it looked.  The dark squares are too much the same size. And the fabrics were all too similar in value.  So after talking with Sherri Lynn about it, I moved them around, sort of ganging them together.  And I added a much lighter in value fourth fabric.  Here is one of the iterations.  I will probably be adding more colors eventually.  In the meantime, I'm going back to working on the Big Flower.

BINDING ON FLOATING SQUARES

Made the binding and got it on the Floating Squares quilt today.

Two quilts binded today!  Woohoo!

BRAVE PATCH MONDAY

During our weekly Monday Sew-In on Brave Patch I got a few things done.

I sewed on the very last square on the top then I made a backing for my Floating Squares quilt. (I think it deserves a better name, don't you?)

I need to ink a label on there somewhere, too.

Then I got to work on those squares for the last blocks of Shattered.  I didn't quite finish though.

Now that I take a look at them, I'm worried that I put them together wrong.  Or maybe I just need to turn those top rows around.  I hope so.

STILL LIFE - Q

We had a Brave Patch meeting this afternoon.  I worked on my Floating Squares.  I got the top part all sewn together so I could fold it up and work on the bottom.  I just cut out a bunch of squares and stuck them up there.  I left the meeting a little early so I could go out and finish up my Q painting.

MORE WORK ON FLOATING SQUARES

I worked a bit on my Floating Squares project from yesterday's workshop.
