FINISH NUMBER NINE

 I quilted, trimmed, made binding and sewed it onto the Babe in the Woods quilt.   It measures 35" by 36".  The top is all flannel.

Its done!  This is finish number nine for the year!

QUILTING SEATTLE BOM 2024

 I finished this top at the end of 2024.  It is the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild's Block of the Month for 2024 called "Like Totally".  Pattern by @imfeelingcrafty.  I had bought a Tula Pink sateen backing fabric for it but am now just getting to quilting it.  I set it up with a wave pantograph using varigated green and white thread.  I got it loaded and started today but didn't finish it.

TUESDAY PLAYTIME QUILTED

 Erik and I have been computer quilting on the Tuesday Playtime quilt, formally known as Quilters Playcation 2024, for a a few weeks now, off and on.  And it's finally done and off the longarm.  Just needs to be bound now.

JUNGLE QUILTED

 This little quilt was made from a vintage piece of fabric with jungle animal characters cut into squares and set with wonky diamond sashings.  I made it years ago and got it out, made a backing from stash fabrics and got it quilted today.  I used a computer controlled program and an allover pantograph for a quick finish.  It is 45" by 55".

Now it just needs binding - green or yellow, or maybe orange?

QUILTING LOG CABIN AROUND

I got out the Log Cabin Around quilt top and backing and loaded them onto Erik the Longarm.  I programmed a pantograph in and got started quilting.

I got it finished by the end of the day, but didn't have time to unload it.

 

TREE TOPS AND ANGLES QUILTED

I finished up the quilting on the Tree Tops and Angles quilt.  I used an E2E pattern with triangles.

THREE STOOGES QUILTED

 I got out another of my UFO Challenge quilt tops and loaded it onto Erik, the longarm, yesterday.

Today I programmed the machine with a pantograph and got it quilted.

Now, I must confess I think this is a really ugly quilt and I'm a bit embarrassed.  But, it is what it is.  I don't know what I was thinking when I made this years ago.  But, my husband is a fan of the Three Stooges and that's why I bought the fabrics.  But, geez whiz, this is not my best work.

CATS IN PAJAMAS IS QUILTED

 I got the rest of the Cats In Pajamas quilt quilted.

It's off the machine.

STARTED IN ON THE PAJAMA CATS

 I loaded the Cats in Pajamas quilt onto the longarm, set up the program and started quilting.  

I got the first row done.

I wasn't sure about whether I should just quilt this design in the background, going around the cats.  But, in the end, I went with the allover.

QUILTING BLUE SLABS

 I've been quilting on the Blue Slabs project - which I have renamed "I'm So Blue".  I'm using a computer program that looks a bit like a Baptist Fan pattern.  I've always liked the look of that.

It's almost done. Just a couple more passes to make.

FINISHED QUILTING CLARKSVILLE

 I guess I didn't mention it, but I've been quilting on the 4-patch quilt I made during the first session of Quiltfolk's Break the Rules.

I've named it Clarksville because the original was found in Clarksville and the quilt didn't have a name other than 4-Patch.  Now it does.

Anyway, I've been working on quilting it for several days now.  I finished  today.

It's all computerized.

SNAKE FILLER

 I found some quilting patterns to use in the bowtie and quarter circle parts of the Snake quilt.

I adjusted them to fit and got busy quilting.

I got the first row finished.

CHECKERBOARD QUILT QUILTED

 I loaded the Checkerboard quilt onto the longarm and set up a computer guided pantograph and sat back and watched Erik work.  I picked a fairly simple pattern, not too dense.  I used a medium purple thread on the top and a light grey on the back.  They both blend in really well.

We got it done today, too.

It's quilted.

QUILTING PUZZLE BOX

 I downloaded a quilting pattern called 'Puzzle' this morning and made a label for the Puzzle Box quilt.  I went upstairs and inked the label.  Then I loaded the backing for it and loaded up the Puzzle Box quilt.  I'm quilting it with the new pattern which resembles  jigsaw puzzle pieces.  It's quilting very slowly however.

So, while Erik was slowly quilting away, I made the bias binding and sewed it onto the back of XXIII.

I got two passes done before it was time to go in.

After I sewed the binding onto the back, I folded the corners and clamped them down.  They'll be more willing to comply tomorrow when I sew the binding to the front.

XXIII QUILTED

 I finished the quilting on the XXIII quilt today.  It has a mixture of computer programed patterns, free-motion and a lot of ruler work.

SUNDAY

I've been quilting on XXIII using the computer-control, experimenting with placing patterns.   I'm putting overall-texture programs in oddly shaped areas.  It's been great fun.

Darrell made several programs for me consisting of concentric arcs for the quarter-circles.  Some of those have worked, some not.  But, this last one has worked beautifully.  Now, it's up to me to learn how to use it.

I'm almost done with the quilting, just a little more than one row left.

I've also, finally, gotten around to watching the videos from Cheryl Arkison of her Playcation Adventure 2022.  She put up live videos weekly during 2022 making improv blocks.  I wish I had done it with her then.  But, better late than never.  I've only done three, but it's been so much fun!  Here's the third one I made today:

 

QUILTING XXIII

This month's UFO Challenge with Quilting Mayhem in Snohomish is #1, which is my XXIII quilt.

I had a backing already made.  The label said 2022 on it, so I added 2023 and loaded it onto the Q24, Erik the Bold a few days ago.  I'm using Dream Cotton Select batting and a cream colored thread by Wonderfil.

Here we go.  I want to do a combination of free-motion, ruler work and computer guided.  This quilt is going to be a test and practice quilt.

TORRENT QUILTING STARTED

 I'm doing an allover edge to edge called' Frozen Swirls', on the Torrent quilt.  I've loaded it and am using 40wt Aurifil, a pinkish coral thread, on the top and back.

I don't know why, but I had about three thread breaks on each row.  Very tedious and annoying.

Maybe I'll change the needle and see if that helps - although this was a new needle when we started.

FINISHED SHATTERED

 I finished up the quilting on the Shattered quilt.

SHATTERED ON LONGARM

 After I finished the Equinox top, I moved right into loading another quilt on the longarm.  Next up is the Shattered quilt.  The back was ready to go, but I needed to piece together some batting.  This quilt is 48" by 64".  I had 60" x 60", and then they jump up to Double 72" x 93".  So I pieced some scraps together.

I'm stitching in the ditch around the plain boxes (on point), then I'm having Eduard quilt a simple pattern in each box.
