Day Two of the Zoom Workshop with Sherri Lynn Wood - Bias Strip Daisy.  

I'm having a hard time with getting things to be flat.  Sherri says, just 'one step at a time'.  But, I get a little overwhelmed thinking about the whole project and have a hard time thinking about just doing one step.  I need to work on that.

I got this big insert for between the petals done and then put it up and I don't like it.  It's not what I envisioned.  Now I'm frustrated.

Overall, it was a fun workshop, but I'm still frustrated.

So, let's do something else:

Gotta get these out of the way so I can attend the Sherri Lynn Wood Zoom Workshop, Bias Strip Daisy I signed up for.

I took my computer up to the studio and tuned in to the workshop.  There were 86 attendees.  We learned how to make improv continuous bias strips first.  I've made so many continuous bias strip bindings that it was second nature.  The only difference being not marking lines for the 2-1/4" wide strips.  Instead, we just cut the strips with scissors, making them as wide or narrow as we wanted.

After class there was an optional free-sew which I attended. I wanted to make some more strips and get some 'petals' made.

Friday!  I got 13 triangle blocks made today.  

I finally decided to go ahead and get some little glass pieces made with ashes of Moe in them.  I had thought of doing this when I first lost her, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.  Now I wish I had done it then.  I like having a little bit of Moe in my pocket.  She can go with me everywhere again now.

I started quilting on the Angela Walters, Echoes and Curves.  The Challenge has been over for a while, which means the videos are all up on YouTube.  However, I wish they would list them in coherent way.  It's basically search through all of her videos one by one.  And they are not labeled with a number so you know which order to view them in.  Also, they started in the middle of the little quilt.  I'm having a bit of trouble with that, but so far, so good.  We'll see.  I need to get a method for keeping the quilt taunt while floating the top and back.

Then it was on to working on my 100dayproject2020.  I made seven more triangle blocks from my scrap bucket:

I sat out on the new deck and sketched in my journal.  Bentley was napping under the crocosmia.

I noticed that I had put the wrong color on one of the parts of the Ribbons quilt.  So, that means I had to take it apart and change out the Enchanted concave part for a Flamingo concave part.

Then it was on to making more equilateral triangle blocks from the scrap bucket.

I finished the back for the Ribbons quilt, too.

I finally finished the Ribbons quilt top.  Then I got enthused and started on the backing.  I've been wanting to use up old fabrics from my stash.  I found some paisleys that would work and come up with a plan.

These are the fabrics on top of the quilt top, to see how they fit.

I started piecing them together, one at a time.  And I don't have a lot of dark teal fabric.

I'm pretty much out of the dark teal (Kona Enchanted) fabric now. And I'm out of enthusiasm for the day.

I moved on to making some more scrappy foundation triangle blocks.

Went for an earlier walk in Lincoln Park than normally this morning.  I actually didn't see anyone else in the park, until I was back to the south parking lot.

It's quite nice walking through the small grove of small Redwoods.

I finished making the top of the Leaf Tablerunner.   I even made a back for it.

I've got that Quiltalong loaded on the longarm, so I can't quilt anything else.  I still waiting for the batting to get here so I can start on it.

I did a little more on the scrap bucket project, too.

Oh, the Kona Flamingo fabric I ordered has finally arrived!  I can work on the Ribbons quilt tomorrow, too.

Monday, cleaning day.  I got a lot done, but not a lot of sewing.

I couldn't wait and ran out to get some fish for the little aquarium I put up in the studio.  The plan is to grow these Comet Goldfish into a little bit bigger fish before I release them into the pond.  That way they should stand a chance against my gigantic Shubunkin.

This one is about 12-14" long.

Here are the two that survived.  The little one is at least 8" long and very fast.

I made a back for the Layered Curves quilt.  I found some fabrics in my stash that would work.  That's always a plus.  But, I really need to sort through my fabrics and get rid of some.  Things are way too full.

I spent some time working on my 100dayproject2020 making eight more triangle foundation blocks from my scrap bucket. 

After lunch, I started a new project for a tablerunner.  It starts with making some strip sets.

 That's all I got done on that project before I had to stop to help Darrell get the studio ready for bug bombing.  Everything had to be either removed or covered.
