WITCH HAT

As if I didn't have other things to do I decided instead to make a Witch's Hat.  I had a chunk of old Alexander Henry fabric with magical symbols, bats, cats and other stuff on it that would be perfect for this project.

It was a battle getting the cone sewn onto the brim and it isn't pretty, but it looks okay on the outside and that's all that matters.

I quilted it on the longarm first.

Then cut out the parts with a pattern from Prairie Misfit.  And sewed them together after I watched her short video on YouTube and read the directions on the pattern.  

And it turned out all right!

VINTAGE CAT BUCKET

I watched a how-to video on Creative Bug and made this Vintage looking Halloween Cat bucket.

Its papier-mâché over a plastic pumpkin bucket.

GHOST IS QUILTED AND DONE

 Erik and I finished quilting a pantograph onto the Ghost and Cat quilt.

I got the bias binding made and put on, so it is done!

THE GHOST IS READY

 I've been working on the applique and embroidery on this old quilt top and it's finally ready to be quilted.

The top, made of small Log Cabin type blocks, was pieced sometime in the 1990's.  It was a pattern by Terri Nussbaum.  It's languished ever since.  I put it on my UFO Challenge list this year.  It's number was drawn by Quilting Mayhem this month.  Which means I need to finish it before the end of May.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

 We stayed in with the lights out, not expecting any Trick-or-Treaters.  He wanted to watch this: a movie from 1941 with Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney Jr.  TG it was only 90 minutes long.

BATTY MONDAY

 During the Brave Patch Monday Sewcial I made another Coordinates block.  This has turned out to be a very satisfying game.  I had to use my skills on this one because it needed several partial seams.

Then I made this week's Art East Quilting's Mini Charm block.  This is week 43, The Bat:

OCTOBER ENTRY

 I put my new October Tablerunner onto the entry way table along with the haunted house I made years ago. (and pumpkins from our garden)

HALLOWEEN DONE

Yesterday I went into Renton to Sewing  Machine Service.  They were having an open house and 25% off Bernina accessories.  I bought a walking foot and a rolled hem foot and some thread.  These people are much more informed than those at Quality Sewing.  I'm now wishing I had bought my machine through them.

Using my newly purchased walking foot, I put the bindings onto the two Halloween tablerunners.  It definitely worked better than just the dual feed.  But, I was really impressed - it is a much better design than my old walking foot.  The have improved it to make it easier to see where you are and where the quilting edge is, with markings for quarter inch.  I love it.

You gotta wonder why these are supposed to be the same size - yet, somehow, aren't.  

Mr. Bentley prefers staying inside where it's warm and dry on these rainy, drizzly days. Life is good.

HALLOWEEN OFF

I finally finished the quilting on  the second Halloween tablerunner and got it off the machine.

RUNNERS

I finally pieced together the HST squares I made from a charm pack of Halloween prints.  I made two tablerunners.

I put them on the Eduard and started quilting them.

I've got one done and the next one stitched on right below it.
