JELLY ROLL MESS

Oh my!  I think this is the first time I've worked with a Jelly Roll of fabrics.  My , my, they are messy.  There is just an abundance of little fibers from the edges that have been pinked.  It's everywhere!
So, I bought this quilt kit a while ago and have been working on it lately.  The Jelly Roll strips need to be sewn into groups of four; I need 18 strip sets.

I had to run out to Pacific Fabrics yesterday to buy template material.  I needed some that I could iron for the circles that will go in the middle of the blocks, and just some regular, thick template for the wedges.

Once the strip sets are sewn together, they had to be ironed.  Then using the wedge template I made, I cut out six wedges from each strip set.

After I got the wedges all cut out, I quit for the day so I could go pick up the husband at the airport.

LATE BUT DONE

Here is last week's Splendid Sampler 2 block.  I had cut out all of the pieces and pieced the backing and prepped the other parts.  I finally got the applique done.

I got this week's block cut out, but there is a lot of hand work with it, too, including embroidery.  So it may be a while before I finish it.  But definitely before next week's block is out.

BH2 ROMAN CROSS

I was concerned about making this block come out right, but I was surprised at how easily it went together.  Here is Moda Block Heads 2 Roman Cross.

Bentley asserted his superiority and took over the dog bed this morning.  It was quite upsetting to the dogs.

Later in the afternoon, he was seen enjoying our lounge chairs under the big trees in the front yard.  He knows how to live.

I think he was annoyed when I disturbed him to take his photo.

GOT A GIFT

I've been attending a Ruler of the Month class at Quality Sewing and Vacuum in Tukwila once a month for the last six months.  Tonight was the sixth in this series and we received our attendance gift.
I've enjoyed going to these because I like talking with other longarmers.  The instructor was very informative and helpful.  She won't be teaching the next series, I'll miss her.

TUESDAY OUTING

We (the dogs and I) got up and and headed to the grocery store to take advantage of a coupon deal on halibut - buy one get one free.  I scored some beautiful pieces of fish to give to my Mom.  Since Darrell is out of town for the week, I thought I'd just take it to her (I probably should have saved myself a piece - oh, well!)  I also had some frozen ground beef  for her that I had picked up several weeks ago on another coupon deal.

We had a nice visit then I left so she could get on with her day.  The dogs and I went to a nearby park for a walk.

It was a great morning, the weather was perfect.  It's a very nice park, lots of birds and a beautiful little lake.  The dogs loved it.  I let Jelly run loose and she was having a ball, running back and forth and investigating everything.

We'll have to go back soon - and this time take binoculars with us.

In the afternoon, I got out a quilt kit that I had bought a while back and has been waiting for attention.  I sorted and sewed some jelly roll strips together.  I have a ways to go yet.  Stay tuned.

MONDAY NORMAL

It rained last night.  That means the trees released a lot of stuff back onto my clean sidewalks and driveway.  Aaargh, it's never-ending.

But, it still looks better than it did before yesterday.

After a nice walk in Lincoln Park with the doggos, I spent the rest of the morning sewing.

More City Sampler blocks:

After lunch, the weather was just perfect.  It's about 69 degrees and very little breeze.  Clouds but still sunny.  I decided to take a quilt up to Solstice Park to get some pictures.

A Ladybug!
On the way home, on Barton Street, someone had set these chairs out - presumably free.  I thought I'd take advantage and see what a photo would look like.

Then, on the way back to the car, I thought this would be cute.

It was a nice Monday.
